After giving my bad-blogger-alter-ego a slap on the wrist, I’m back now.
Things have [still] been really mellow lately. Lots of inside days due to rainy/cold weather, and also a bit of a lack in general enthusiasm as an irritating by-product of said weather.
Still though, we have been up to stuff. We’re working on painting my hobby/work room upstairs (just about done with that) and we’re hoping to lay the floor down this weekend. I need to use it as a work space for this online teaching gig that I really hope works out. Lucky me gets to get up in time for a 7:30 AM online meeting tomorrow to test my techie skills. That’s okay though, I’ve managed to get up during the actual morning hours the past couple of days, and I’m keen on following through with continuing the habit.
I haven’t been doing a whole lot of photography, which is unfortunate, so I don’t really have any photos to share right now, but I think I should be taking some at a friend’s birthday party tomorrow, and perhaps I’ll lug my camera along to the city when we go get some flooring supplies :)
Anyway, the main reason I was motivated to write a little post, is to share my re-dedication to a vegetarian lifestyle. I was a vegetarian for a year or so when I was 18-ish, but fell off the bandwagon when I moved in with my non-veggie ex. This time, though, I plan on sticking with my decision. I’ve always had it in the back of my mind that I would become a vegetarian again eventually, but have kept saying that I would wait until I was financially stable because it’s more expensive. You know what though, that’s really a pretty bull-shit excuse if I’m honest with myself. Being a vegetarian does not have to be more expensive at all, it just requires more creativity at times. It always requires sacrificing favorite foods and the like, but I feel that it’s worth it not to be involved in the meat industry. Maybe I’ll transition to veganism eventually (I’ve considered it from time to time) but for now I’ll work on being a vegetarian.
I’ve been looking up lots of sites for being a vegetarian on a budget, and I thought I’d pass them along for anyone who’s interested :)
practical, sound advice on cutting the costs at the grocery store.
oh yeah, i wikied that shit.
this page has lots of links to other handy pages all about going vegetarian
this one has lots of great videos on a vegan lifestyle
“the world’s largest collection of vegetarian recipes”
reasons to become vegetarian, couple with resources for making the transition
basically a bazillion articles and tons of resources
I’ll probably do another post after some time with some new resources :) Now it’s off to the grocery store for dinner supplies (no idea what we’re going to eat tonight) and then I think I’m going to dive into The Omnivore’s Dilemna. I guess the new diet change means you can also look forward to lots of posts featuring yummy vegetarian meals!
I hope everyone’s holidays were lovely! I know I’m looking forward to New Year’s (mad fireworks here)!
